Wild week

It's been warm and we had quite a line of thunderstorms come though the night of July 2.  We had wind, rain, hail, lightning, with some local gusts up to 70 mph.

Multiple trees or large pieces of trees down near us.  I counted 7 in the nearby woods and pond trail.   Many power outages over the holiday.

Here is a large part of a tree that just missed our building at work!

Here is more in the woods by my driveway

Wow, a lot of people must have been affected across states. I was relieved there was a bit of rain for us and a lot more south of us because it broke the heat we've been having the last few weeks. But that shift does come with costs.

It was so crazy! Glad your home and work came through okay. I think we must have been kind of shielded by the hill we're on, I had no idea how bad it had been until I went driving around the next morning and saw all the downed trees and power lines.

We were lucky to have not had any damage here at home, but several trees came down in town. The winds were incredible, but our screenhut and blueberry crop cages survived nicely. Thousands lost power, but we did not.

And I was happy to see that the mourning dove nest in the backyard survived!
