Late August

Late August is bringing cooler weather and earlier sunsets.   

The bird activity is the usual Blue Jays, House Sparrows, Mourning Doves, Downy Woodpeckers.    The Turkey family has been consistent visitors and the Mute Swans on the pond also continue to grow.

The garden yielded so-so results.  Quite a few peppers, but not many tomatoes.

Our plum tomatoes were doing well in the garden, until the chipmunks discovered them! We have been bringing them inside, green, and ripening them in paper bags. We’ve canned fifteen pounds into 10 jars of sauce: last year we had none.
